ALL..of the staff were amazing, helpful, pleasant and polite and smiley from us booking in to checking out, a credit to Holiday Inn. Breakfast was really good, lots of choices, plenty of it, no problem with staff replenishing stock when needed. Grab and go idea was very good. Plenty of tables. Being on the ground floor was a bonus. We were in an accessible room which was a wet room, we found the shower to be very good but the drainage was very slow and almost reached the door into the bedroom! The chair in the bathroom was a very useful idea. Toiletries were excellent, plenty of extra items for example tissue box on the bathroom wall. Towels were very good. A small night light in the bathroom would have been ideal. Being used to a king sized bed at home we found the double bed to be a little on the snug side! Plenty of spare supplies of tea, coffee and milk etc in the dining room. The location of the hotel was perfect, close to the park and ride and with the hotel being next door to a Toby Carvery was great, although unfortunately we did not get to use it, but we will be back! Good sized car park which would have been even better if people had only used one slot and not 2!

Beverley

Staff very warm, welcoming and friendly. Parking ok, sometimes very busy if carvery busy next door. Mandy was exceptional... always friendly, smiling and hard working! Nothing was to much trouble how ever big or small your requirements. Made you feel very welcome. Room was of very decent size. Bathroom good layout ... although no bath, room spacious and large shower area which was very powerful. All though tea making facilities in rooms, added bonus of additional coffee machine (choice of different coffees and tea) juice machine, ice machine accessible 24/7 in dining area. Other snack options available in evening but didn't use these, Dining area doubled up as a rest area outside of breakfast times. Breakfast very good value for money.... constantly topped up to keep it all fresh, and you can eat as much as you like! Added bonus of grab and go options ! Good selection of cereals, cooked breakfast, fruit, cereal bars, muffins, croissants, bread... something for everyone..

The staff was super helpful, accommodating, friendly, cheerful. They made our stay wonderful. Breakfast was very good. We preferred the way it was kept warm in those beautiful containers, rather than dried out under heating lamps. The little paper cups for sauces are a very good idea, too. The room was fine. The only thing that could be better as an accessible room: the bed could be a few inches further away from the bathroom wall, for the person in question to get the wheelchair, or rollator next to it. Upside however, the bed was not fixed to the wall, so I could move it a bit for my husband. The situation (in some reviews mentioned) with the drains smell in the bathroom is that there has been rain and the ground water is relatively high. Not much if anything that they hotel can do about it. Once the rain stopped for a while, the smell did, too. I gladly recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay there again.

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times now, for a period of 3 nights each time. The convenience of a free car park is a real benefit. We get cabs to the centre of York and return to the hotel at a rough cost of £10 each way. There is no lift to the upper floor, but the staff are always available to help carry your luggage upstairs, they are so helpful and friendly, nothing is ever too much. The staff are quick to clear and clean the dining tables to enable the next guests to have their breakfast. The selection is ideal with a choice of fruit juices, tea, coffee, cereal, fruit, yogurts, pastries and a full english. They can cater for vegetarians on request. It's also handy to have a Toby carvery right next door.

The property was in a great location especially if driving a long distance…easy to find off one of the main roads in to York. Free parking too which was great! I had my small dog Lester with me and he was made to feel welcome also…so much nicer than leaving him at home with the dog border. The room was very clean and comfortable with an excellent hot shower with very good water pressure. Breakfast was plentiful, hot and delicious…(and Lester was given 2 sausages too which was a lovely touch). Staff were very friendly and welcoming especially the late night receptionist and the ladies on duty in the restaurant. All taking time to chat to me and Lester. I will definitely book again 😊
